redeveloping historic structures

Le Cavallerizze are historic structures built around the mid-19th century and are included in the Museum of Science and Technology L. da Vinci in Milan. The buildings were in a terrible state of repair.

The redevelopment intervention provided the Museum with a new volume with a different identity compared to the existing buildings. This new volume is also divided into interconnected settings.

a strong bond between the historic and renewed parts

The project consisted in restoring the volumes of the destroyed modules, preserving the structures, and finishes and integrating the missing parts with new materi.

From an architectural point of view, the aim of the project was to rebuild the missing parts and enhance the value of the preserved parts in a contemporary key.
